Contra Costa County, CA
Contra Costa County, located in the San Francisco/Oakland area, is home to over 1 million residents and one of the largest Sheriff’s offices in the nation. Contra Costa also has the distinction of being the first Sheriff’s Office to leverage the dual continuous alcohol monitoring (CAM) and house arrest functionality of SCRAMx® (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) to take a firm stance on tackling its DUI problem. Since June 2010, the Sheriff’s Office has been using SCRAMx as a replacement for its previous use of BI’s TAD® and Sobrietor® products.
